Hey folks, welcome to another episode of The Mind of a skeptical leftist. In this one I talked to journalist and podcaster, Jeremy Appel. We talk a bit about the state of journalism, how he got into podcasting, police going after journalists, and Haiti. It was a good chat and I think you’ll enjoy it.
Jeremy has a substack titled The Orchard and is a cohost on two podcasts, The Forgotten Corner and Big Shiny Takes. I’ll put links to all of those in the shownotes or in the description box of the video so make sure to go and check them out.
So last week I posted in the Saskatchewan subreddit to see if there were any local leftists interested in joining a group and getting to know one another. As usual we got a bunch of reactionaries commenting and basically just spouting off nonsense about echo chambers, cults, and socialism never working and I’m wondering what my listeners and viewers think the right answer is when looking for new folks who are interested in leftist politics. Posting on social media seems like the only answer really but isn’t really enjoyable. I’ll keep doing it if I need to but I don’t enjoy dishonest questions and I don’t like the way I react to them. So yeah, shoot me an email or comment on the video to let me know what you think is a good way to reach people.
